2010 PGA Championship: Nick Watney Closes With Three Shot Lead

Miraculously, the PGA Championship is back on pace. The field is through three rounds, and Nick Watney leads by three at 13-under par. His 66 helped him gain firm control going into the final round tomorrow.

With the exception of a late bogey, Watney played virtually flawless golf at Whistling Straits to take his lead. Though 36 hole leaders faded in the third round, Watney had to excel in order to keep pace with a field not intimidated by Pete Dye’s masterpiece.

With 18 holes to go, the regal young gun appears poised to take his first major. Then again, Vijay Singh seemed like a sure thing here on Sunday in ’04 and it turned out to be anything but.
