South Texas will be the stage for Jose Canseco’s latest publicity stunt, this time a six-game stint with the Laredo Broncos. But he’s going to get his money’s worth while he’s there.
Jose Canseco Attempts A Mini-Comeback. Again.
↵↵Canseco says he will be a designated hitter, serve as a bench coach and pitch for the team.
↵↵This is not the first time that Canseco, now 46, has gone this route in what seems to be his never-ending quest for attention. In 2006, he signed with the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the Golden Baseball League, then asked to be traded after one game to the Long Beach Armada.
↵If his pitching is as “successful” as it was in the majors -- he pitched terribly and blew out his arm, requiring season-ending Tommy John surgery -- the Broncos might want to keep him on offense.
