I seem to recall from Bull Durham that minor-league ballplayers weren’t exactly short of female admirers. However, maybe that was just a more sexually-liberated era. For this evening, the Rays Double-A affiliate, the Montgomery Biscuits, are having Ladies Night, featuring a chance to win a date with their third-baseman, Henry Wrigley. The process involved would-be future ex-wives filling in a questionnaire on entry - the four whose answers closest match Henry's will advance to the on-field portion. Semi-finals scheduled for the end of the second and fourth innings, are Sumo and a Tug of War, with the winners going on to face each other in what the press release describes as "Medieval Madness" at the end of the sixth. I can only imagine what that might be.
Now, I don’t know about you, but I am not sure my ideal life-partner would be one who excels in those particular areas. Though if Mr. Wrigley gets lucky, he might end up with Xena, Warrior Princess, I suppose, which would be okay. There will also be $5 “Caribbean Cosmos” at the concession stands, mini-massages and speed-dating. Safe to say this particular minor-league promotion takes the Biscuit. Literally.
