NFL Preseason: Bills Leading Colts in Fourth Quarter, 24-21

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - Rookie first-round running back C.J. Spiller rushed for 54 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries, as the Buffalo Bills beat the Indianapolis Colts, 34-21, in a preseason game from the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Buffalo quarterback Trent Edwards finished 5-of-8 for 93 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown pass to Lee Evans to cap a high-scoring first quarter.

Peyton Manning did not play beyond the first quarter for Indianapolis. The veteran signal-caller went 8-for-15 for 91 yards with a touchdown and one interception that was returned by Buffalo's Terrence McGee 78 yards for a score.

After the Colts went three-and-out to open the contest, Spiller capped Buffalo’s first offensive series with a 31-yard touchdown run.

Indianapolis answered on the subsequent possession, as Joseph Addai scampered 17 yards to the end zone.

The Bills were forced to punt on their next series, but McGee’s interception return put Buffalo up 14-7 with six minutes left in the first quarter.

Manning then hit Jacob Tamme on a 21-yard touchdown to tie the game with 1:33 remaining in the opening frame, but Edwards hooked up with Evans just 52 seconds later to restore the lead for Buffalo.

It was 21-all after Indy backup QB Curtis Painter threw a 43-yard TD pass to Taj Smith. Rian Lindell's 24-yard field goal in the waning moments of the second quarter gave Buffalo a three-point lead at halftime.

Lindell kicked a 37-yarder in the fourth quarter, and Joique Bell added a two-yard TD run on the first play following the two-minute warning to seal the win for Buffalo.
