Mariner's starter Felix Hernandez shut out the Yankees for 8 innings on Friday night, giving up 4 hits, 3 walks and striking out 11. The downside is that the win was only his 9th of the season. He is the poster boy for the fantasy league argument that the Wins category should be replaced with another cetegory like Quality Starts.
Saturday’s Roto Roundup: Lyle Overbay Drives In 7
Blue Jays first baseman Lyle Overbay had a good week on Friday night, going 4-5 with 2 HRs and 7 RBIs. Overbay now has 15 HRs and 54 RBIs for the season.
Red Sox starter Jon Lester was roughed up for 9 runs on 8 hits and a walk in 2 innings vs the Blue Jays, quite possibly his worst start of the season. He is 13-8 with a solid 3.26 ERA and 1.18 WHIP for the season.
Brewers third baseman Casey McGehee just continues to drive in runs, as he went 2-4 with a HR and 4 RBIs on Friday night. McGehee is hitting .287-.345-.483 with 20 HRs and 81 RBIs for the season. Who would have thought he would lead the Brewers in RBIs this season?
Brewers shortstop Alcides Escobar went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a SB. The SB was just his 9th of the season. I am sure fantasy owners thought they would get more than 9 SBs from Escobar on draft day. I think manager Ken Macha is too conservative on the basepaths.
Reds starter Homer Bailey held the Dodgers to one run in 7 innings on Friday night. He gave up just 4 hits and struck out 6 in winning his 3rd game of the season.
