Ousted Seminole patriarch Bobby Bowden is making the media rounds to promote his new book (How Green Was My Applesauce, available from finer booksellers this fall), and he’s pulling no punches when it comes to detailing the chicanery of Florida State’s retiring president, T.K. Wetherell:

↵Bowden says former FSU president T.K. Wetherell, who played for Bowden when he was a Florida State assistant in the 1960s and repeatedly proclaimed Bowden had a “lifetime contract,” reneged on an agreement to allow Bowden to coach through the end of the 2010season. Instead, he wanted Bowden to be an “ambassador coach” with no responsibilities this season.
↵This is no shocking revelation; anyone following last winter’s Bowden Regime Collapse-A-Thon will remember the dreaded “ambassador” label and Wetherell’s hilarious botching of the process with the media. The man came off as a fool without too much help from the cheap seats. But it’s refreshing to see Bowden-The-Elder use the discarded remnants of his once-mighty platform to bludgeon those who wronged him on the way down. Too many in his position would be fishing right now, and where would we get our summer entertainment then?
