Mets outfielder Angel Pagan probably wasn't drafted very high in many mixed fantasy leagues, but he has provided plenty of value for fantasy owners this season. Pagan went 4-5 with 3 runs scored and his 31st SB of the season on Tuesday. For the season, he is hitting .301-.356-.460 with 10 HRs, 54 RBIs and 67 runs scored. He is on pace for 41 SBs. Who would have thought he would steal 40+?
Tuesday’s Roto Roundup: Is Rickie Weeks A Top 3 Second Baseman in 2011?
Tigers starter Rick Porcello had his best start this year, throwing 7 innings, giving up just 3 baserunners and striking out 4. DId the time in the minors turn him around?
A's starter Gio Gonzalez threw 7 shutout innings in winning his 11th game of the season. He gave up 5 hits, one walk and struck out 7, lowering his ERA to 3.24. Does every A's pitcher have an ERA in the 3's?
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter went 1-6 with his 10th HR of the season on Tuesday. Jeter is hitting .279-.338-.390 for the season with 10 HRs, 58 RBIs, 89 runs scored, and 14 SBs. Will the Yankees pay $20 million per year for a .338 OBP?
Is Gordon Beckham just a good second half hitter or has he just figured things out after a horrendous first half slump? Since the All-Star break, Beckham is hitting .333-.388-.530 with 4 HRs, 20 RBIs and 16 runs scored in 117 at bats.
Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata went 2-3 with 2 runs scored, an RBI and a SB. Tabata is now hitting .310-.362-.414 with 3 HRs, 18 RBIs, 40 runs scored and 14 SBs in 21 attempts, all in 261 at bats. He is on pace to steal 22 bases in his first taste of the big leagues. Can he steal 35 + bases in 2011?
Pirates reliever Evan Meek earned his second save of the season on Tuesday, but it wasn't the clean inning we have come to expect from Meek. He gave up one run on 4 hits, after relieving Joel Hanrahan who threw 1.1 scoreless innings. Who gets the next save chance is anyone's guess.
Rockies second baseman Eric Young Jr. appears to have won over manager Jim Tracey over the last two weeks. He went 3-4 with a run scored and his 9th SB in 73 at bats. He should be picked up in all leagues, especially keeper leagues. Should he play everyday in 2011, he could easily steal 40+ bases.
Another hitter who has surprised this season is Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks. Weeks hit his 24th HR of the season on Tuesday, and is hitting .274-.368-.473 with 24 HRs, 74 RBIs, 85 runs scored and 7 SBs. The SB total is disappointing, but the power and runs scored totals are solid. Amongst all second baseman, only Robinson Cano and Dan Uggla have hit more HRs and driven in more runs.
Hong-Chih Kuo got the save opportunity on Tuesday and converted for his 5th save of the season. I think he gets the save opportunities into September, but could see the Dodgers taking a look at Henley Jansen a few times before the season is over.
