So much for prospect Jon Gilmore. According to MLB.com, the Dodgers are going to give Manny Ramirez to the White Sox straight up as a waiver claim, and Chicago will assume the rest of his salary.
Dodgers Will Send Manny Ramirez To White Sox, Receive No Players
The Dodgers will allow Manny Ramirez to be claimed off waivers Monday by the Chicago White Sox, who will pick up the remaining $4.3 million of his $20 million salary, according to baseball sources. There will be no players coming back to the Dodgers.
The Dodgers will continue to run with an outfield of Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp, and Scott Podsednik. The White Sox, meanwhile, should plug Manny right in at DH, and may have him in uniform in time for Monday’s game in Cleveland.
