UFL Fantasy Football Tip: Draft Some Omaha Nighthawks

Maurice Clarrett has signed a one-year contract with the Omaha Nighthawks.

Let me back up for a second. The Omaha Nighthawks are the latest football team to join the UFL.

Hold on, let me back up a little further. The UFL is the United Football League, a five-team league that exists somewhere and featured a team called The Florida Tuskers.

Former Ohio State star Maurice Clarett has signed a one-year contract with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.

Clarett met Monday with team officials and UFL commissioner Michael Huyghue, who gave his blessing.

Clarett was expected to be on the practice field Monday night for his first football activity since he was a bust with the Denver Broncos and spent 3 1/2 years in prison for having a hidden gun and holding up two people outside a Columbus, Ohio, bar, in 2006.

Huyghue “gave his blessing?” As if he wasn’t falling over himself to get the high-profile former Buckeye signed.

Clarett needed a judge’s permission just to leave the state of Ohio and work out for the Nighthawks and he’ll still need to get clearance in order to spend the entire season with the team.

Clarett joins a Nighthawk team that already has a lot of star wattage. Jeff Garcia is their starting QB and Ahman Green is one of their RBs (and Clarett’s mentor during the transition). Former Georgia QB D.J. Shockley, FSU WR Craphonso Thorpe and Oklahoma DT Dusty Devoracek are among the other notable names on the roster.
