Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan – best known as the player that missed the penalty kick awarded after Luis Suárez’s hand ball – has made the jump to the English Premier League. In a move reportedly valued at £12 million, the 24-year-old moves to Sunderland. There, Gyan is expected to partner Darren Bent in the Black Cats’ attack.

↵Gyan moved to Rennes from Udinese two years ago, scoring 14 goals over two seasons in France. This summer, Gyan scored three goals for Ghana, including the extra time match-winner against the United States in the Round of 16, as the Black Stars advanced to the quarterfinals.
