Transfer Deadline: Robinho Moves From Manchester City To Milan

Two years ago, he was a shock arrival from Real Madrid - a record-breaking purchase symbolizing Thaksin Shinawatra's intent to make Manchester City a world soccer power. Now, not even the Abu Dhabi United Group can justify wasting money on Robinho.

And that’s how Milan was able to stumble upon another world class player. After a summer of penny-pinching led many to think the Rossoneri would step further back from the top of the Serie A table, Milan has now added Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho to an attack that had already featured Ronalindho and Alexandre Pato.

Such is the state of affairs in the red half of the San Siro after Robinho’s Italy-move was confirmed today. The permanent move sees the 26-year-old attacker sign a new four-year deal to join Milan.

Though the fee is officially undisclosed, The Guardian’s Daniel Taylor has tweeted that the fee could reach £20 million:

Robinho fee is 'undisclosed' but told it's £18m with £2m add-ons and player losing £2m 'loyalty bonus' (ha) due next month #mcfc #milanless than a minute ago via web

Robinho’s original move to Manchester was valued at £32.5 million.

During his time at Eastlands, Robinho recorded 16 all-competition goals in 53 appearances.
