LeBron James made his first public appearance in Akron since committing an act of treason and defecting to making the decision to join the Miami Heat, and, boy, were Akron residents steamed to see ... what do you mean James got cheered? Wasn’t that supposed to be illegal or something?
LeBron James Appears In Public In Akron ... And Gets Cheered
↵LeBron James was cheered enthusiastically Saturday morning in his first public appearance in the area since deciding to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to continue his NBA career in Miami. James chose his fifth annual Kids’ Bikeathon in downtown Akron for his showing, just about a month since the TV special on which he made his choice known. The hometown crowd gave him plenty of love. Nary a boo was heard, and not one negative sign was carried by the 1,000 or so people who attended. Only one James’ Cavs jersey was seen in the crowd.↵Huh. It’s like the people in Akron who knew, loved and supported James growing up have gotten over the temporary pain associated with a multimillionaire athlete deciding to ply his trade and make his millions elsewhere, embraced the idea that one of the best basketball players in the world will always be from Akron, no matter where he plays, and are celebrating him accordingly.
↵Failing that, I’m going to assume that Bikeathons are just magical occasions that make everything in the world right and good.
