UFC Returns To Michigan For First Time Since 1996 In November
↵↵UFC 123 is headed to Auburn Hills, Michigan.
That’s the word from UFC president Dana White, who told MMA Fighting that the finalization of a deal to bring the Nov. 20 event to The Palace of Auburn Hills in the Detroit suburb closed on Wednesday morning.
↵↵The event will be headlined by the bout between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida.
↵This is somewhat surprising given the Michigan economy being in fairly bad shape. The unemployment rate sits at 13.1% and there are not a lot of people who are dealing with a ton of expendable cash in the state. The poor Michigan economy has likely been a big factor in why the UFC hasn’t made a trip to Michigan since UFC 9 way back in May of 1996.
↵We’ll have much more on UFC 123 as the card is put together.
