Stanford’s 35-0 win over UCLA Saturday night was a sparking victory.
That is, if you’re merely a fan of the Cardinal.
For draft fans, look a little deeper at the box score. Beyond the score, you’ll see a startling number.
Luck, regarded by many as the top draft-eligible quarterback in the nation, completed just 11 of 24 pass attempts. That’s a below-average 45.8 percent.
Inaccuracy mars Andrew Luck in blowout win

While it’s true that Luck isn’t surrounded by the best talent at Stanford, many of his incompletions weren’t on the pass catchers. On several throws over the middle, Luck threw the ball too high. On a few passes to the outside, Luck missed his mark going too far wide.
This is not to mean that Luck should be discounted as a draft prospect. And it’s true that Stanford runs to set up the short pass. It is worth noting, though, that Luck had a poor game against a seemingly easy opponent.
All wasn’t lost for the redshirt sophomore, however. He looked much better on the move when a play broke down. Luck was powerful and decisive when he pulled the ball down and ran.
Still, it’s not those attributes that will make Luck a top 10 pick in April, should he come out. It’s his arm, and that golden cannon was off for at least one night.
