Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki hit two more HRs on Saturday afternoon, giving him 26 HRs and 88 RBIs to go along with his .328-.391-.596 triple slash line. In his last 10 games, he has hit 11 HRs and driven in 24. Could he be the #1 shortstop taken in fantasy drafts in 2011?
Saturday’s Roto Roundup: Is Troy Tulowitzki The #1 Fantasy SS?
Tigers starter Justin Verlander held the White Sox to 3 runs in his complete game win on Saturday. He gave up 7 baserunners and struck out 8 in winning his 17th game of the season. His 3.46 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 198 K's in 208+ innings are all solid across the board.
Braves starter Tim Hudson continues to pitch quality start after quality start, as he gave up 2 runs on 6 hits, a walk and 7 strikeouts in winning his 16th game of the season. He has to be the best pitcher no one is talking about in 2010.
Yankees starter CC Sabathia was the first pitcher to 20 wins on Saturday, as he held the Orioles to 3 runs on 8 baserunners in 7 innings of work. Is he the Cy Young award winner in the AL? Felix Hernandez might have something to say about that, but CC has a chance at 22-23 wins.
Diamondbacks second baseman Kelly Johnson went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, a HR and an RBI on Saturday. He is hitting .275-.362-.475 with 22 HRs, 63 RBIs and 11 SBs. I am curious where he ranks amongst second baseman going into 2011 drafts as the DBacks are considering making some drastic changes to the dimensions of their ballpark including raising the height of the fences and moving the fences back.
Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen went 1-3 with 2 runs scored, a HR and 2 RBIs on Saturday. He is hitting .277-.355-.440 with 15 HRs, 52 RBIs, 80 runs scored and 31 SBs. Can he go 20-40 in 2011? i thought he could in 2010, but has felt a bit short in both categories.
Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard went 1-3 with his 30th HR of the season on Saturday. His triple slash line of .280-.352-.519 is good, but many fantasy owners thought he would hit more than 30 HRs and drive in more than 102 runs in 2010. He falls out of the first round in 2011, in my opinion.
Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista hit his 49th HR of the season on Saturday. He appears poised to hit 50 HRs this season. I will go on record and say he will not hit 50 next year, and I would be surprised he hits more than 35.
