Jay Cutler seems to have found new life under new offensive coordinator Mike Martz. In a dominant performance, Cutler threw for 277 yards (on 72% completions) and three scores as the Chicago Bears stole a win from the Dallas Cowboys at Cowboys Stadium, 27-20.
Week 2 NFL Scores And Results: Cutler Shines As Bears Drop Cowboys
Cutler threw scoring strikes to Greg Olsen, Devin Hester and Matt Forte in the win, with the Forte hookup proving to be the game’s decisive score. Chicago’s swarming defense was also impressive in the victory, with second-year cornerback D.J. Moore picking off two Tony Romo passes, and Brian Urlacher recording a fumble recovery to go with his eight tackles.
Romo and the Cowboys got a 48-yard field goal from David Buehler to cut the lead to seven with just over a minute remaining, but Chicago recovered the ensuing onside kick and put the victory on ice. Rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant returned a punt 62 yards for the game’s first touchdown, but Dallas could never really get going offensively.
With the loss, Dallas drops to 0-2. Facing massive preseason expectations, it’s fair to say that Jerry Jones may soon begin his search for Wade Phillips’ replacement.
