Dating back to the tail end of the 2008 season, the Cincinnati Bengals had reeled off seven straight victories against their AFC North opponents. They continued their divisional dominance on Sunday, edging the Baltimore Ravens 15-10 for their eighth straight division win.
Week 2 NFL Scores And Results: Bengals Secure Eighth Straight Division Win
It was an ugly victory. Carson Palmer was inefficient (16 of 35, 167 yards), and Cincinnati’s rushing attack was bottled up effectively by Baltimore’s defense. Joe Flacco, however, threw four interceptions, and two late field goals from Cincinnati’s Mike Nugent secured the win. Nugent kicked five field goals on the day.
Leon Hall, Adam Jones, Chinedum Ndukwe and Brandon Johnson recorded interceptions for the Bengals. Ravens wideout Derrick Mason recorded the only touchdown in the game, a 31-yard pass from Flacco that gave the Ravens a temporary 7-6 lead. Baltimore held a 10-9 victory in the fourth quarter before Flacco’s picks and Nugent’s leg caught up with them.
