Brett Favre’s annual heroic return to the NFL took another major hit on Sunday, as the legendary quarterback threw three interceptions, lost a fumble and was sacked three times as the Minnesota Vikings lost a 14-10 home game to the upstart Miami Dolphins.
Week 2 NFL Scores And Results: Dolphins Defense Baffles Favre As Miami Goes 2-0
Miami’s defense came up huge in this one. Favre’s lost fumble occurred in his own end zone, and rookie outside linebacker Koa Misi fell on it for a touchdown. The Dolphins also stuffed venerable running back Adrian Peterson on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line late in the game to seal the victory.
The Dolphins also got a touchdown from receiver Brian Hartline - set up by a lengthy pass from Chad Henne to Brandon Marshall - and rushed for 120 yards, led by Ronnie Brown. Brown, however, lost a fumble late in the fourth quarter that might have handed the game to Minnesota, had the Dolphins not been able to stuff Peterson late.
After making several key overhauls defensively this offseason, the Dolphins have given up 10 points in each of their first two games - both wins - and deserve all of the credit for their Week 2 victory. Favre and the Vikings, meanwhile, drop to 0-2.
