Fantasy Baseball: 2010 Fantasy Breakout Team

A few days ago, I wrote an article on the 2010 Fantasy All-Star team. Today, I will give you the 2010 Fantasy Breakout Team.

C-Buster Posey-SFG-I wrote about Posey on Saturday here.

1B-Ike Davis-NYM-Davis, in 477 at bats, is hitting .258-.346-.440 with 18 HRs, 69 RBIs and 31 doubles. Davis has the power to hit 30 HRs every year, but must cut down on the strikeouts. Marlinsfirst baseman Gaby Sanchez was a close second with his 18 HR, 79 RBI season.

2B-Rickie Weeks-MIL-Weeks is having the season many fantasy owners have been waiting for for what seems like forever. Weeks is hitting ..263-.357-.462 with 27 HRs, 79 RBIs, 98 runs scored, and 10 SBs. Sure, all fantasy owners would like more SBs, but the power display he has put on this season is promising.

3B-Jose Bautista-TOR-there's not much more we have to say about him as he is on the verge of a 50 HR season that no one saw coming.

SS-Ian Desmond-WAS-Desmond won the starting SS job to begin the season and has performed better than I had expected. He is hitting .278-.316-.416 with 10 HRs, 60 RBIs, 55 runs scored and 16 SBs. Shortstop appears to be a very thin position heading into 2011 drafts.

OF-Carlos Gonzalez-COL-Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd may never relinguish his job as a result of his deal that brought CarGo to the Rockies from Oakland. Gonzalez has had an MVP-like season this year hitting .341-.382-.609 with 32 HRs, 106 RBIs, 105 runs scored and 23 SBs. He is a 5 category guy who will likely be a Top 5 pick in fantasy drafts in 2011.

OF-Angel Pagan-NYM-Pagan was guaranteed a starting job out of spring training with the injury toCarlos Beltran, but not many people expected him to keep the job all year. Pagan is hitting ,296-.347-.436 with 10 HRs, 67 RBIs, 75 runs scored and 35 SBs. It appears Pagan will be the Metsstarting centerfielder in 2011 as well, as there is talk that Carlos Beltran will move to right field to preserve his knees.

OF-Delmon Young-MIN-Young is a hitter who many thought would break out a few years ago, but has finally put everything together. He has cut down his strikeouts and increased his power this season. He is hitting .295-.329-.481 with 18 HRs, 102 RBIs and 71 runs scored.

SP-David Price-TB-Price is reaching the ace potential bestowed upon him when he was drafted a few years back. Price is 17-6 with a 2.79 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 172 strikeouts in 193 innings pitched. Pitching this well in baseball's best division was the difference between Padres starter Mat Latos.
