Michigan Wolverines: Desperately Seeking Field Goals

Michigan football is 3-0 thus far in 2010, with two wins over major opponents (UConn and Notre Dame), and two victories coming by less than a touchdown. So it’s not like they’re hurting, but their two kickers are 1/5 on three-point tries this season, and sooner or later they’ll need the help at the margins. Rich Rodriguez issued a postgame cry for help following the Wolverines’ narrow escape from Massachusetts, and the Michigan student paper ran it as a help-wanted ad:

↵Any student out there who’s enrolled at the University and is in good academic standing and a good guy and can kick field goals and can kick the ball into the end zone, we’ll have another tryout for you.↵Two questions: First, we know Rodriguez can be an unpleasant fella, but did he actually make his initial comment within earshot of the two kickers on the roster? And second, have they considered just putting Denard Robinson in at kicker? That guy does everything.
