In Progress: Virginia Tech Vs. Boston College

Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Tyrod Taylor completed 16-of-21 passes for 237 yards, and the Virginia Tech defense blanked the Boston College Eagles, 19-0 in an ACC showdown at Alumni Stadium.

The Hokies (2-2, 1-0 ACC) managed just six rushing first downs for the game and netted only 2.7 yards per carry as a team.

Montel Harris led BC (2-1, 0-1) with 111 yards on 19 carries. However, quarterback Dave Shinskie had a tough day, completing just 11-of-25 passes for 130 yards and two interceptions.

After a scoreless first quarter, Darren Evans put Virginia Tech on the board first with a three-yard touchdown run to start the second quarter, and the score would remain 7-0 until the second half.

Hokies' kicker Chris Hazley accounted for all of the third-quarter scoring with three field goals (29, 45, 29) in the frame.

Hazley added a 32-yarder in the fourth quarter for the game’s final score.

It marked Virginia Tech’s first shutout since a 17-0 win over Virginia during the 2006 season. For the Eagles, it was their first time being shut out in 148 games, the last of which also came at the hands of the Hokies.
