Ozzie Guillen's job with the White Sox has never felt very secure. He's had problems in the dugout, problems in the clubhouse, and problems with the team's front office, including a much-publicized rift with general manager Kenny Williams. However, Guillen's contract extends through the end of next season, and today word has come out that Guillen will indeed return next year as manager.
Ozzie Guillen To Return As White Sox Manager In 2011
Guillen had meetings recently with both Williams and team chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, and each of them went well. He says the relationship between himself and Williams is “mending,” and that it was never about baseball philosophy. Whether the two can get on good terms and stay there is anyone’s guess, but the situation is no longer quite as it was.
If things go well enough, the White Sox hold an option for Guillen for 2012. The option becomes guaranteed if the White Sox win the AL Central next year. Check out more on Guillen and the White Sox at South Side Sox.
