Georgia To Open Season Versus Louisiana, Sans A.J. Green

Georgia will kick off against Louisiana for their season opener very shortly, and they will do so without the services of phenom receiver A.J. Green, arguably the most talented pass-catcher in the nation. Unlike most of the rest of his team, Green was not arrested over the summer. He is, however, the alleged target of an NCAA investigation looking into an as-yet unnamed Bulldog receiving improper benefits from an agent, and with college football’s Keystone Kops dragging their feet, Georgia has no recourse but to sit him.
Today, this isn’t a big deal. The Ragin’ Cajuns went 4-4 in Sun Belt play last year. But the Dawgs will start missing Green keenly in exactly one week if this isn’t resolved, when the team travels to Columbia to face a suspiciously competent-looking South Carolina squad.
For more on Green’s situation and today’s Georgia game, visit SB Nation’s DawgSports, where we’re sure they’re just thrilled to death with all of this.
