Scott Wright of Draft Countdown “relaunched” his site recently and among the new work is a 2011 mock draft. Mocks in September end up being pretty much worthless, but they bring in that sweet, sweet traffic.

Check out the rest of Wright’s mock for the entire mock. His Super Bowl is again New Orleans over Indianapolis. I’m guessing he did that to avoid fanboy homers whining.

The mock brings up an interesting scenario that will be fun to observe in April. If Detroit has a top five pick and all of the top junior wide receivers enter the draft, would the Lions go that route? Of course the played-out joke about Detroit taking a wide receiver is out there, but any of the top four receivers would be an immense upgrade over Nate Burleson.

Here is Wright’s top five:

1. Buffalo Bills: Jake Locker | 6'3, 226 pounds | QB | Washington
2. St. Louis Rams: A.J. Green | 6'4, 200 pounds | WR | Georgia *
3. Cleveland Browns: Andrew Luck | 6'4, 235 pounds | QB | Stanford **
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Robert Quinn | 6'5, 265 pounds | DE | UNC *
5. Detroit Lions: Patrick Peterson | 6'1, 222 pounds | CB | LSU *

Really there’s no head scratchers here. Most sites have these five teams and players in the top five. The only point of contention is Luck recently saying he wants to get a degree before going pro. That might be window dressing from most players, but Luck seemed genuine. And he’s going to Stanford, so he can’t really get the three year general studies degree.

Note: If you run a draft site and would like to be featured in “Rock out with your mock draft out,” email me. However, if your draft sucks, prepare yourself for ridicule.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.

It’s a high-potential pick for a Detroit defense that needs a solid pass rusher.
