↵All fighters who compete at Shine Fights this Friday will be hit with 60-day or 90-day suspensions immediately afterwards, for taking part in an unsanctioned event. The suspension is not punitive, it is a safety measure aimed at protecting fighters who have competed in events outside the jurisdiction of an athletic commission.
Shine Fights was die [sic] to take place in Virginia this weekend but the Virginia State Athletic Commission was not keen on the promotion and it was forced to move to Oklahoma. But the new venue is on Native American land, which holds sovereign status and thus is not overseen by the Oklahoma State Athletic Commssion.

↵Shine Fights is, of course, the promotion which attempted to book a Din Thomas v. Ricardo Mayorga fight only to have the fight blocked by Don King leading to an absolute last minute cancellation of the event and fighters and officials stating that they were not paid. This has led many to wonder if Shine will follow through on payments following the conclusion of the event.
↵Now the fighters will serve a 2-3 month suspension for participating in an unsanctioned event. The measure is only being taken to prevent fighters from taking place in events where the lack of regulation could mean improper medical personnel on-site as well as no oversight of fighter payments.
