Jonas Jerebeko To Re-Sign With Pistons For $16 Million Over Four Years, According To Report

The Detroit Pistons will keep Swedish forward Jonas Jerebko on a four-year, $16 million deal, according to reports.

Jonas Jerebko will sign a four-year, $16 million contract with the Detroit Pistons, according to Larry Lage of the Associated Press. Vincent Goodwill of the Detroit Free Press confirmed the report.

Jerebko was a second-round pick of the Pistons in 2009, earning second-team All-Rookie honors in the 2009-10 season. Any injury kept him out of the entire 2010-11 campaign, though. He was a restricted free agent this offseason, and Detroit made clear early on they would lock him up before other teams could get a glimpse.

This deal will essentially carry Jerebko through his prime; he’ll turn 25 years old in March. A 6’10 combo forward, Jerebko is a strong rebounder and tough-minded if inartful defender. While it’s unlikely he’ll ever be a star, he’s a solid rotation player, based on his rookie performance.

The Pistons also reached a four-year deal with Tayshaun Prince on Thursday, which could mean that Jerebko will be playing more power forward.
