NFL Draft Trade Rumors: Falcons ‘Aggressively’ Looking At Top 10

The Atlanta Falcons are apparently serious about getting into the top 10 of the 2011 NFL draft.

Earlier this week SI’s Peter King reported that the Falcons wanted to trade into the top 10 to acquire WR A.J. Green or WR Julio Jones.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com also reports the Falcons are trying to move up and has a few more nuggets of information. The Falcons are talking to the Arizona Cardinals (fifth pick), Cleveland Browns (sixth pick) and San Francisco 49ers (seventh pick) about moving up.

Glazer also reports that CB Patrick Peterson is among the Falcons targets.

It would be very, very costly for the Falcons to move up into the top 10 from where they sit now. They’re looking at giving up their 2012 first round pick to start the conversation. Are they willing to go that far for one of those players?

Many mock drafts have the Bengals, with the fourth pick, selecting Green. They're reportedly not in love with either of the top quarterbacks. That would leave Jones and Peterson at the fifth pick and the Cardinals could take one of them. So that likely leaves the Browns as the trade partner -- and we know the Browns are looking to trade down.

The first round of the 2011 NFL Draft starts at 8 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, April 28th and SB Nation has everything you need to prepare for it - NFL mock drafts, draft projections, scouting reports, the full NFL draft order and more.
