2011 NFL Draft Results: Jake Locker Picked By Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans wasted no time making their selection in the 2011 NFL draft. With the eighth pick, the Titans have selected QB Jake Locker out of Washington. This is a bit of a surprise because Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert was still on the board and he's long been expected to be picked higher than Locker.
With Locker, you have all the intangibles. He’s a smart guy who works hard. He’s tough and there’s a reason a lot of general managers across the league like him. Physically, he has the size you want at 6’3” and 228 pounds. He’s also a senior with plenty of leadership skills.
On the field, there’s some left to be desired. He has just a 55 percent completion percentage which isn’t usually where you see a top 10 pick. The accuracy issue, especially for a quarterback, is hard to get over. The Titans and new head coach Mike Munchak think they can develop him into a top quarterback.
In his career, Locker has thrown for over 7,600 yards and 53 touchdowns.
