The 2011 NFL draft continues in the fifth round. Here’s a look at picks 158-162:
2011 NFL Draft Results: Bears Find QB Jay Cutler’s Backup
158. St. Louis Rams select DB Jermale Hines. Coming out of Ohio State, Hines stands 6'1" and weighs 219 pounds. I like some of these late round picks with guys from big schools who played top competition. You have a better idea of what you're getting.
159. New England Patriots select TE Lee Smith. Out of Marshall, Smith becomes the 12th tight end drafted by Bill Belichick, a position-high for the team. He's your future Alge Crumpler at 6'6" and 266 pounds.
160. Chicago Bears select QB Nathan Enderle. The Bears have their developmental QB. Enderle stands 6'4" and weighs 240 pounds. He'll need some time when he gets to the league so a team like Chicago, with a clear starter, is a good spot for him.
161. Philadelphia Eagles select G Julian Vandervelde. The Eagles got a well schooled offensive lineman. Iowa and head coach Kirk Ferentz is known for producing well coached offensive linemen so the Eagles got a solid player here.
162. Pittsburgh Steelers select OLB Chris Carter. Out of Fresno State, Carter had 10 sacks last season and will be able to learn behind some of the best linebackers in the NFL.
