2012 NFL Draft: Andrew Luck Says He’ll Play Wherever He’s Picked

Despite some concern that he could spurn the Colts, Andrew Luck said he will be happy with whoever picks him in the 2012 NFL draft.

The 2011-12 NFL regular season is over which means for at least 20 teams the focus shifts to the 2012 NFL draft. The draft order of the non-playoff teams is set and we know that the Indianapolis Colts are drafting No. 1 overall. In 1998, they were in this same position and drafted a player, Peyton Manning, who has developed into one of the all-time greats.

Now the Colts face a similar question with the 2012 NFL draft and presumed No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck. They are expected to select him in April when their turn comes. But will Luck play in Indy? There's a concern that Luck could pull a power play, as Eli Manning did with the San Diego Chargers eight years ago, and refuse to play for the Colts.

According to Luck, there should be no concern. He said after the Fiesta Bowl he’ll play wherever he’s picked.

“I’ll be happy wherever I land. Whether it be pick one through 270,” Luck told ESPN. “I just want a chance to playoff professional football. It’s been a dream. Whatever situation I end up in, I’m sure it’ll be for the best.”

The Colts’ decision with Manning and Luck will be the story of the 2012 NFL draft. Undoubtedly, they’ll draft Luck. The debate comes over whether Manning will be there when Luck arrives.
