Jacquizz Rodgers declares for 2011 NFL Draft

In a somewhat surprising move, Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers is entering the 2011 NFL Draft.

Many expected Jacquizz to go return for his senior season after his brother, wide receiver James Rodgers, was granted a medical hardship so he could return to the Beavers.

“I’ve thought long and hard about this decision,” Rodgers said in a statement. “I want to thank all of Beaver Nation for their support throughout my time here at Oregon State. Without all of that support I wouldn’t be in this position.”

Rodgers finished the 2010 season with 1,162 yards rushing with 14 touchdowns. He also caught 39 passes for 267 yards and two more scores.

Listed at 5-foot-7 and 191 pounds, Rodgers has to hope a team falls in love with his athleticism, much like the Chiefs did with Dexter McCluster. Rodgers isn't as strong as McCluster but can do a lot of the same things for an offense.

He's a threat every time he touches the ball and has breakaway speed. Although he didn't do it for the Beavers, Rodgers should also be an asset as a kick returner in the NFL.

For me, Rodgers projects somewhere in the third or fourth round.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
