If you missed them, here is some news on today’s 2011 NFL Draft declarations and some other draft-related tidbits.
Tuesday night NFL Draft links to click
ESPN - Jared Crick returning to Nebraska
This is good news for Nebraska fans and for Crick. He was solid this season, but not as spectacular as some expected. Defensive tackle will be down some in the 2012 draft so Crick could benefit greatly. What’s odd about this is that it doesn’t seem like any news organization has picked it up.
Hail to the Orange - Corey Liuget goes pro
If you don’t think a good bowl game can lead a player to jump to the NFL, think again. Liuget turned in a good performance in his, and is the third Illini junior to enter the draft. He has some developmental upside, but may not go before the third round. He’s still pretty raw and needs to refine his technique.
ESPN - Shaun Prater returning to Iowa
The talented junior cornerback is returning to Iowa, as expected. This season, he had four interceptions and 10 passes defended.
Sporting News - Mallett could have short NFL career
Well, that’s kind of a crappy thing to say.
Senior Bowl - Jake Locker and Mason Foster to participate
This may be the single smartest move all offseason. Jake Locker so desperately needs the Senior Bowl to fix his plummeting draft stock. If someone can still justify him as a first-round pick, please do.
Daily Norseman - Where the Vikings should look in the draft
Vikings fans soundly say the team needs a quarterback or offensive lineman in the first round.
