According to Lexington Herald-Leader Kentucky beat writer Chip Cosby, Wildcats mult-threat Randall Cobb is entering the 2011 NFL Draft. He's holding a press conference at 1 p.m. to announce his decision.
Cobb represents perhaps the best do-everything player in this year's draft. He's lined up at running back, wide receiver and quarterback and handled kick and punt return duties.
He's done each in spectacular fashion. Cobb was second in the nation as a junior in all-purpose yards. In 2010, he caught 84 passes for 1,017 yards and seven touchdowns. He ran the ball 55 times for 424 yards and five more scores. He completed five of 10 passes for 50 yards and three touchdowns.
On special teams, he averaged 7.8 yards per punt return and 23.7 yards per kick return.
Cobb may not have the best size at 5-foot-11 and 186 pounds, but he's a natural playmaker who can diversify an offense. His best position is wide receiver. In that role, he may be best out of the slot where he can run quick, short routes and work after the catch.
