John Fox Named Denver Broncos Head Coach, John Elway Announcers Via Twitter

John Fox was let go by Carolina after his Panthers secured the number one pick after a miserable 2010 season but he wasn't out of work long. After interviewing in Denver this week, Fox has been named head coach of the Denver Broncos.

The news was broken by John Elway who joined the Broncos front office this year.

Fox's tenure in Carolina was successful early before floundering late. In 2003, his second season with the Panthers, Carolina went to the Super Bowl losing to the Patriots. The second half of his career in Carolina is filled with mediocrity and then the two-win 2010 season.

Fox will be tasked with making the decision on QB Tim Tebow and developing him as they move along.

Fox was let go by the team who held the No. 1 pick in the draft and he joins the team that holds the No. 2 pick in the draft.

Here’s what Elway said on Twitter following the announcement:

Coach Fox is a great fit for us not only with his coaching ability but also with his personality. He is a dynamic and proven leader who will energize our entire organization. John has coached great defenses, turned teams around and been to Super Bowls.
