Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley is officially declared for the 2011 NFL Draft.
As expected, Nick Fairley opts for 2011 NFL Draft
“I was thinking, `What more could I accomplish my senior year?’” Fairley said at an Alabama high school.
It’s true, Fairley had a great season with 24 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. He was the defensive MVP of the BCS National Championship game. He won the Lombardi Award.
In 2010, Fairley worked hard in his first year as a full-time starter. But some question his effort on a play-to-play basis and his ability to stack and shed blocks. MTD readers don’t seem to think he should be Carolina’s choice with the first overall pick in the draft.
You have to also wonder about Fairley’s play on the field. There’s a reason the second thing that pops up in a Google search for Fairley is “Nick Fairley dirty.”
