Brad Keselowski Opts To Run For Chase Berth Over Nationwide Series Title

When NASCAR drivers learned recently they could only run for points in one of the three national series – Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck – Brad Keselowski was faced with an interesting decision.

↵He could either try for a Chase berth in the Sprint Cup Series – probably a longshot in only his second full season – or attempt to defend his Nationwide Series title (he’ll be running full-time again on that circuit).

↵Keselowski revealed his decision Tuesday night on Twitter:

↵↵@keselowski: After listening to our fans/sponsor opinions, We checked the box for sprint cup championship contender in 2011. #forthosewhowant2know

↵↵That’s the conclusion most people would have expected, especially since new sponsor Miller Lite probably would have been unhappy to be eliminated from the Chase before the season even starts.

↵But Keselowski tweeted the decision was more difficult than it appeared.

↵In reply to someone who asked if it was really a tough call, Keselowski wrote “Heck yea! Gr8 team, with tittle 2 defend.”
