Ecuador international Antonio Valencia is looking to make his first team return in late February, according to boss Sir Alex Ferguson. The United winger suffered a horrific ankle break and dislocation back in September 2010 in a home Champions League tie with Scottish Champions Rangers.
Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia Eyeing Late February Return
Valencia is reportedly back in training every day with United as he’s hoping to make an effective return to assist United in this season’s title race.
Ferguson on Valencia as seen on The Guardian:
“Valencia is doing well now, he’s started his running programme. He’s able to train every day now, which is a big step forward. He’s been given the all clear from the doctors, so he’s under complete control now which is great news. I think possibly towards the end of February he should be back in the first-team squad which is a big boost to us, something for us to look forward to”.
While there’s no question that the addition of Valencia will bolster an already strong United side, the Reds, however, are currently top of the league without him. Looking to remain unbeaten in league play, Manchester United will play Birmingham City on Saturday at Old Trafford.
