It seems the Senior Bowl is letting just about anyone with a laptop and a draft opinion in this year.
Senior Bowl coverage head explosion overload
Because of that, it's difficult to get a handle on whose opinion to trust. Reports on Washington quarterback Jake Locker have gone back and forth both days. The timid Shane Hallam of DraftCountdown got called out by Miami's Leonard Hankerson when the writer suggested he dropped a few passes.
So in this time of dire need for the best information, you fall back on those you trust most. For me, it’s Doug Farrar of Yahoo! Sports/Football Outsiders/SportsPress Northwest/Washington Post. Farrar may have also written a chapter six of Pride and Prejudice, I dunno.
Also, the NFL Draft Scout/CBS Sports crew of Rob Rang and Chad Reuter are top-notch.
On Day 2 of South practices, Farrar notes the lack of velocity TCU quarterback
puts on passes. He also came away impressed with Georgia offensive tackle
and his nasty streak.
In his South breakdown, Rang says Tennessee tight end Luke Stocker looked like a Jason Witten clone.
Rang notes that on Tuesday Colorado offensive tackle Nate Solder helped himself by playing well against Ryan Kerrigan. He also says that California's Cameron Jordan has been the standout defensive player this week.
Texas A&M’s Von Miller may be helping get himself high in the first round by showing he’s a good all-around player.
Also worth noting is that Wisconsin's Gabe Carimi has lined up more at left guard than right tackle.
Of the three North quarterbacks, Farrar says Jake Locker has the best mechanics. I don’t think anyone questioned that. Locker needed to show accuracy this week and reports are indicating that he hasn’t.
