Eric Gordon, star scorer of the L.A. Clippers, will miss three to four weeks with a sprained wrist, the team announced Tuesday. Gordon didn't travel with the team to Dallas in advance of the Clippers 112-105 loss on Tuesday; journeyman Randy Foye started in EG's place.
Eric Gordon Injury Potentially Leaves Clippers Without Star Guard Until All-Star Break
Gordon, along with rookie Blake Griffin, has been a huge part of the L.A.'s relative success of late. The Clippers are 12-6 since Dec. 17, still really far away from any hint of a playoff run, but better than a season-opening 1-12 stretch showed. Gordon, in his third year out of Indiana, has been a wonderful perimeter compliment to the visceral force that is Griffin.
SBNation.com’s Mike Prada wrote a glowing profile of Gordon last week; it’s well worth a visit to see what L.A. will be missing.
The injury would be bad news any time, but comes at the head of a particularly tough stretch for the Clippers. The team has just two home games for all of February, and those are against the Bulls and Celtics. The All-Star break, during which Gordon may return, according to schedule, breaks up 11 straight road games from the Clips. The final game of the stretch is against the Lakers; that means the Clippers will be away from Staples Center for 10 straight games. That's brutal for any team. The Clippers without Gordon? It may be a bad losing streak in waiting.
