Derrick Rose, John Wall and six other point guards are on the fan ballot for spots in the NBA's Taco Bell Skills Challenge to be held Feb. 19 during All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets is the only player guaranteed a spot in the Skills Challenge; the eight other contestants will be pared down to four between now and Feb. 14 through fan voting on the NBA's website.
Derrick Rose, John Wall Among Those On Fan Ballot For NBA All-Star Skills Challenge
Rose and Wall are joined on the fan ballot by Russell Westbrook, Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, Tony Parker and L.A.'s two starting point guards (hilarious as their inclusion might be), Derek Fisher and Baron Davis. The top four vote-getters will face Paul in what is considered All-Star Saturday's second most yawn-worthy event (behind the Shooting Stars contest, in which old people and WNBA shoot baskets).
Curry, Rose and Wall seem like locks for the competition based on name recognition and the rabid nature of their teams’ fans. Folks more interested in having a laugh might want Fisher to make it.
