Although Arsenal may have won their fourth round FA Cup match against Huddersfield Town at the Emirates today, they suffered a major blow when Samir Nasri limped off the pitch chasing a long punt from goalkeeper Manuel Almunia shortly after Nicklas Bentdner had given the Gunners their first lead of the day. Nasri was immediately hauled out of the game and substituted for Czech midfielder Tomas Rosicky, the first sign that Arsenal weren't going to have it all their way against their humble guests.
Samir Nasri Hamstring Injury May Sideline Winger For ‘Two To Three Weeks’
First impressions indicated that it was probably a hamstring injury, and that’s now been confirmed, and it looks like the winger will be out for a few weeks, per Jamie Sanderson’s twitter feed:
Samir Nasri is expected to be out for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury.
Arsene Wenger later confirmed this news in a press conference, calling the problem a 'serious injury' and forecasting three weeks out. Obviously, that's not great news for Arsenal, who now face a series of tricky matches without their most influential attacking player. Nasri had been in fine form for the Gunners, scoring nine goals in twenty league games so far this season, and his loss represents a big blow as Wenger's side attempt to chase down high-flying Manchester United for the Premier League crown.
