NCAA Basketball Rankings: Ohio State Unanimous No. 1, Kansas, Texas Rise To No. 2 And No. 3, Respectively

There has been a shakeup in this week’s NCAA Basketball Rankings. Two Big 12 teams have jumped up to the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, thanks to Duke’s blowout loss to St. John’s on Sunday and Pittsburgh’s loss to Notre Dame last Monday. Kansas rises from No. 6 to No. 2 after blowing out Kansas State on Saturday, while Texas rises from No. 7 to No. 3 after defeating Oklahoma State and Missouri. Pittsburgh drops two spots to No. 4, while Duke also dropped two spots to No. 5.

Ohio State remains the No. 1 team in the poll, despite going through a scare against Northwestern over the weekend. The Buckeyes held on for a 58-57 win, and thus keep the No. 1 spot in the rankings. In fact, they ended up maintaining the top spot unanimously, gaining all 65 first-place votes.

Other schools that took a big leap in the rankings include Notre Dame (14th to ninth), Georgetown (21st to 13th) and Louisville (23rd to 15th). Arizona (21st), Utah State (22nd), North Carolina (23rd) and West Virginia (25th) join the poll for the first time. Villanova (12th, from eighth) and Syracuse (17th, from ninth) took the biggest tumbles.
