According to multiple published reports online, Clemson junior defensive end Da'Quan Bowers has officially entered the 2011 NFL Draft.
2011 NFL Draft: Da’Quan Bowers is in
Bowers is arguably the best defensive end in this year’s draft and a likely top-five pick. He was named a unanimous All-American as a junior after leading the nation with 15.5 sacks. He was also second nationally in tackles for loss with 26. For his efforts, Bowers was won the Hendricks and Nagurski awards.
A blue chip recruit out of high school, Bowers really blossomed in 2010. He’s always been strong against the run but developed his pass rush moves as a junior. Bowers’ main move is a powerful bull rush and a good rip.
What was most impressive about Bowers in 2010 was how consistently he played. Often college pass rushers get their sacks in bunches. Bowers recorded at least a sack in nine different games. That consistency may help ease concerns some have that Bowers is a one-year wonder. As a sophomore, Bowers only had three sacks on a loaded Clemson defensive line.
