A high school kid couldn't keep a secret. Shocker.
After meeting today with Alabama head coach Nick Saban, Barry Sanders Jr. told Corey DeMoss of OKBlitz.com that Tide running back Mark Ingram will announce on Friday that he's entering the NFL Draft.
"He just said ‘We need running backs,’" Sanders told the reporter. "How Trent [Richardson] would be a senior if I were to go [to Alabama]. He told me Ingram’s leaving, he’s making it public probably Friday."
Injuries limited Ingram throughout the 2010 season. He ran for 875 yards and 13 touchdowns in 11 games. After rushing for more than 150 yards in each of his first two games of 2010, he never topped 100 the rest of the season.
It was a significant drop from Ingram's 2009 season when he ran for 1,658 yards and 17 touchdowns to claim the Heisman Trophy.
Despite what he did in 2010, Ingram is ready for the NFL. His vision is uncanny for a college runner and he's patient behind the line. He may not have the straight-line speed some like, but he knows how to get positive yards in bad situations.
Ingram will be a first-round pick. Where he lands in round one may be determined by his 40 times, fair or not.
