Today, Alabama's Mark Ingram, Marcell Dareus and Julio Jones all entered the 2011 NFL Draft. Each projects as a first-round pick with Dareus and Jones perhaps in the top 10.
Alabama underclassmen make the right NFL Draft choices
It wasn’t all bad for Tide fans today as weak-side linebacker Dont’a Hightower said he’s returning for his senior season. Hightower required serious knee surgery in 2009 and only showed his past potential toward the end of 2010.
When he’s healthy, Hightower is an excellent linebacker and becomes another addition to the 2012 class that should be excellent.
Each Alabama player made the right decision on their pro career. Ingram has shown his running style is suited for the NFL. Dareus is the kind of defensive lineman that will be highly sought after in this draft. Jones is only a step below Georgia's A.J. Green as a wide receiver prospect.
Still, there are three Alabama players who have yet to make their intentions known in safety Mark Barron, wide receiver Marquis Maze and linebacker Courtney Upshaw.
