Somewhat unexpectedly, Arizona State defensive tackle Lawrence Guy will forgo his senior season and enter the 2011 NFL Draft.
Lawrence Guy enters 2011 NFL Draft
“I feel like I’m ready,” Guy told the media Saturday. “I feel like I’m physical enough and good enough to play at the next level.”
In 2010, Guy finished the season with 41 tackles, 1.5 sacks and six tackles for loss. He’s been a solid run defender for the Sun Devils but could have used another year of college to increase his draft standing. I project him as a third- or fourth-round pick.
Guy fits the mold of a 3-4 defensive end. He has size at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds and enough agility to move around in the run game. He may have to continue getting stronger and will likely begin his career as a rotational lineman.
ASU's other top junior on defense, cornerback Omar Bolden, announced he is returning for his senior season.
