League rules disallow him from being candid about specifics, but Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay may have tipped his interest in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay strongly suggests drafting a QB; hints at Andrew Luck
He doesn't mention Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck by name, but Irsay indicated to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports that his team may be looking quarterback in next year's draft.
"Guys like that come along so rarely," said about generational franchise quarterbacks like Peyton Manning and, as many expect, Luck. "Even if that means that guy sits for three or four years, you’d certainly think about taking him … you see what Green Bay did with [Brett] Favre and [Aaron] Rodgers and you’d like to be able to do the same thing."
If Manning is healthy, that would be the same scenario for the Colts. But would it have the same drama as it did with Favre?
Regardless, for the 0-5 Colts, Luck obviously remains a strong possibility, despite what some silly NFL Draft writers may think. To even think Luck, though, the Colts will have to finish with a worse record than the Miami Dolphins, who are also without a victory.
Of course Irsay, a man of odd words on Twitter, could just be laying a draft smoke screen abnormally early.
