Video: Trent Richardson’s 76-yard juke touchdown against Mississippi
With this one run Saturday night against Mississippi, Alabama junior running back Trent Richardson may not have only secured the Heisman Trophy, but also a top 10 slot in the 2012 NFL Draft.
His juke at the 14-yard line didn’t just split the ankles of Mississippi’s Senquez Golson, it nearly split the freshman in half. This was like Reggie Bush against Fresno State in 2005.
“I see some Emmitt Smith in him,” Ole Miss defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix told the media after the game. “Trent probably has his own style. He has quick feet, the stutter step, he can hit the home run, he can run you over. He’s a little bit of everybody balled up.”
The 76-yard scamper was just one part of Richardson’s stellar game. In Alabama’s 52-7 route, Richardson carried the ball 17 times for 183 yards and four scores. After an odd start to the season against Kent State, Richardson has six-straight games of 100 yards rushing or more.
Richardson is the middle member of the Crimson Tide's elite three running backs that should all be first-round picks. The first, obviously, was Mark Ingram. Now Richardson is the team's top rusher. His second is Eddie Lacy. The scary thing is that Lacy may be better than both. But more on that next year as he's only a sophomore.
