Some things may never change. According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Oakland Raiders are expected to ship a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft to the Cincinnati Bengals for quarterback Carson Palmer.

The trade also involves a conditional first- or second-round pick from the Raiders in the 2013 NFL Draft. The pick can become a first based on playing time and other incentives, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.
The NFL trade deadline is today at 4 p.m.
Palmer has been sitting out the season, refusing to play for the Bengals. If the trade goes through as expected, this is quite the coup for Cincinnati.

The Raiders now only have scheduled picks in the fifth- and sixth-rounds of the 2012 NFL Draft. Their first-, second-, fourth- and seventh-round picks were moved in trades. The third-round pick was used in the supplemental draft on Terrelle Pryor. The Raiders will receive draft pick compensation after losing cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, offensive lineman Robert Gallery and linebacker Thomas Howard via free agency.

Oakland is in need of a quarterback after losing starter

Jason Campbell

with a broken collarbone. The current quarterbacks on their roster are

Kyle Boller

and

Pryor

. Against the Browns Sunday, Boller was eight of 14 for 100 yards in relief duty.
Many have believed the asking price for Palmer would be a second-round pick, and even then the Bengals would be hesitant to move him. Oakland is without a second-round pick in 2012 after trading it to the

New England Patriots

for a third- and fourth-round pick in this year’s draft.
If the trade goes through, it will be the third 2012 first-round pick to be moved. The

Atlanta Falcons

traded their first to the

Cleveland Browns

as part of the

Julio Jones

trade. The

New Orleans Saints

sent their first (and a 2011 second) to the Patriots in order to pick running back

Mark Ingram

this year.
