Game ball of the week: Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

Each week we’re going to give out the proverbial game ball to whomever had the college football performance and talk about their chances in the NFL.

There may have been a quarterback with a higher completion percentage or more yards, but none I saw looked as good as Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill on Saturday.

In a 55-28 route of fan darlings Baylor, Tannehill finally like the prospect some draft analysts have been purporting all season. On the game, he was 25 of 37 for 415 yards and six touchdowns. The former wide receiver also ran the ball five times for 55 yards.

As a prospect, the game sort of affirmed what many have said about Tannehill. His passes were often precise and accurate and he put a good spin on the ball. Unlike some other highly considered college quarterbacks, he remained poised in front of the Baylor rush. To really understand this, just watch the quarterback’s feet. If they’re shuffling around, that’s not good. While you’re not looking for a statue, Tannehill stepped up in the face of the blitz.
Most importantly Saturday, Tannehill played well for the whole game. On several occasions this season, Tannehill has put together a great first half only to falter in the second. If he can string together a run of quality play throughout the game, he’ll become the kind of prospect many thought coming into this season.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.

It’s a high-potential pick for a Detroit defense that needs a solid pass rusher.
